Had a great experience with them! Thank you so much to Stephen, you were the best warden and made the experience absolutely amazing 🙂 He really appreciated our orange t-shirts! Best escape room in Edinburgh by far, it has so many rooms and the puzzles are really fun to solve.

We had a great experience here! On entry we were greeted by friendly staff Bob and Stephen, who were great from start to finish. Bob helped us throughout our experience in Alcatraz, and although we didn’t escape in time, he made it memorable and exciting.

I only wish the website was clearer about how hard our room was with only two people, but other than that a great experience, with the room itself being very clever and challenging.

We completed The Asylum room at Escape Reality with a group of six, ranging in skill levels. Little did we know it’s the second hardest room they offer! From the start, the team was fantastic—our instructors were welcoming and clearly explained what to expect.

Our host, Stephen, set the mood perfectly with an interactive and engaging briefing that got us fully immersed in the experience. The use of iPads and QR codes for hints was a unique touch and worked well, though there was still the option to get help directly from the instructors if needed.

The room itself was incredibly well-designed, with a compelling theme and challenging puzzles. The variety of tasks meant everyone in our group could contribute, with different strengths coming into play to solve the challenges.

Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I highly recommend it! We’re already planning to return and try out the other rooms.

Three of us came here over the weekend and did the Tortuga Pirates room. It was great fun, the clues were a good mix of more straightforward and tough, and Cameron was a great game master, very welcoming and set the scene really well. The place itself is really nice, with comfy seating and games to play while you wait if you arrive early. All the staff we spoke to were very friendly and helpful. We’d definitely recommend it and are hoping to come back again soon!

We did our first Escape Reality room 3 years ago - Asylum. We thoroughly enjoyed it, although a part towards the end of the puzzle hadn’t been put back together properly so we got confused (but still managed to escape). Upon informing the staff we were offered a free room the next day. We returned and did Nosferatu. We thoroughly enjoyed that room as well, although this time a door was malfunctioning and we got confused again (but still escaped). The staff checked and profusely apologised. We were given a free polaroid which we still treasure. We wanted to come back ever since but didn’t get around to doing it until now. We were told that Alcatraz starts in 2 separate rooms but weren’t quite braced enough for it yet, so we did Tortuga. We were given an introduction upon request and managed to complete the room with 16mins left (we are both in our early 20s).

You receive a tablet in the beginning which shows your timer and allows you to scan hints in the room (we didn’t need them at all). You can also use a switch on the wall to call a member of staff if necessary.

Most puzzles involve padlocks or similar locks, which we didn’t mind at first, however since visiting other escape rooms we have noticed this is a bit repetitive here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experiences at escape reality Edinburgh and are looking forward to our next visit. The staff, particularly, were lovely as well. One of them remembered our visit three years ago as well which shows how uncommon repeated malfunctions are.

You can get dressed up or hold sign for some free digital photographs at the end. Additionally you can get polaroid photos for a bit extra.
