Great camping spot for 4 families with 7 kids. Nice fire ring with plenty of down and dead firewood. We all 4 were tent camping and we all found nice level spots with shade for our tents. The only downside is that its right off the 169 road so there is some traffic on the road but no other campsites or campers nearby.

Awesome camping spot! This entire forest road is a campground, except for a few sparse wildlife areas. You can drive and drive, and there's many spots to pick from. The best part is, it's free and quiet. Not restrooms or water tho. It was very secluded and foresty. Lots of trees and plenty of shade, you won't have to worry about a hot tent or being woken up by the sun. The rim shades the morning sun, and the rest of the trees give you shade till about 11 am. Even in full sun, your tent won't get too hot, not at this elevation. Slight breeze all day long to keep you cool. Didn't get too cold at night, but it did get chilly. I visited in mid-June and it reached 50° at night. Thermal sleeping bag highly suggested with warm blankets. All in all, this camp spot is a gem. It's about 2 hours from the East Valley, if you're coming from the west side, expect more like 3 hrs. I would come back and stay longer next time. With it being free, and so quiet and peaceful, it's worth it. Make sure your car can do hills and your tires have air. It gets rocky and unpaved. Bring extra water to drown campfires ?a fire starting up here would be devastating.

Really good place to stay only bad thing to many people driving around at night should be more quiet since its a getaway place to enjoy nature

Beautiful area. We have been camping here over 20 years. It was a five star venue back then.

Over the last few years it has gotten insanely busy on weekends with a lot of noisy OHV traffic on the dirt roads. I have seen the banks of Woods Canyon Lake have people fishing every 15 feet or so with kayaks and paddle boards mixed in with the fishing lines. On our last trip, we had a drone flying back and forth over our camp site.

On Sundays, return traffic to the valley on 260 can back up from Kohl's Ranch all the way to Star Valley because of traffic volume.

Beautiful area. Can get a bit crowded but everyone wants to visit the rim and escape the heat.
