The grass strip around the little pond was roped off. The smaller pond at the Botanical Building, which the renovation is looking almost finished, was completely unavailable.

Balboa Park was such a joy to visit in San Diego!! Specifically this spot at Lily Pond is where you can take the most iconic picture for your SD trip!! I visited during this past Thanksgiving & the weather was perfect. Classic California landmark for San Diego, in the same vein the Hollywood sign is for Los Angeles & the Golden Gate Bridge is for San Francisco.

If you visit Balboa Park, this would be absolutely one of the most important places to check out!

Located in the heart of the park, it is centrally accessible from all places in the Prado strip. It is adjacent to a few museums and the beautiful botanical building!

You’ll be sure to see hundreds of beautiful plant and flower varieties along the edges of the reflecting pool and the perimeter of the plaza. There are magical koi in the pond and stunning water lilies on the surface blooming all year round!

On the weekend, this landscape lights up with life and culture. I’ve seen Falun Dafa meditations here every Sunday, all sorts of unique and crafty vendors, families enjoying each other, and all sorts of interesting happenings in between.

Oh and the nightscape here with all the lighting transforms the pond into an infinite pool of wonder. I love this place so much. Please come visit.

This is such a beautiful and iconic spot for pictures at Balboa Park.
The view from both ends of the Lily pond is absolutely breath taking and you could even get some cute ducks in the back of your pictures.
